This dataset shows the location of the Dee Water Protection Zone (DWPZ). A Water Protection Zone is an area where certain activities (storing or using controlled substances) are banned or restricted to reduce the risk of polluting drinking water. Under the Water Protection Zone (River Dee Catchment) (Procedural and Other Provisions) Regulations 1999, you need consent (permission) to carry out a controlled activity in the DWPZ. The aim is to prevent water pollution arising from activities that cannot be controlled using other permits. This map can be used to see whether your site is within the DWPZ.
