The Cycle 2 Flood Risk Areas are those communities in Wales where most significant flood risks exist across all sources of flood risk. They were identified for the purpose of the second Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment under the Flood Risk Regulations 2009. The threshold for communities at significant risk of flooding was set by Welsh Government with input from Natural Resources Wales and the Welsh Local Government Association (representing Lead Local Flood Authorities).

The Cycle 2 Flood Risk Areas were identified in December 2018 and replace the Cycle 1 Flood Risk Areas.

For additional information on Flood Risk Areas, please refer to the Preliminary Flood Risk Assessment reports available on the NRW website (found here).
