LiDAR Data download
Welsh Government
LiDAR data from Welsh Government and NRW made available to download by individual tile or as pre-compiled mosaics.
Each Grid square represents a tile identified by OS Tile Name
The DSM (Digital Surface Model) is a representation of the heights recorded in the in the LiDAR survey that includes upstanding features, such as trees and buildings.
The Wales LiDAR data was not created specifically for flood modelling, so additional processing and editing may be required before it can be used for this purpose. For example, artificial obstructions such as low-level vegetation and bridge decks may need to be removed if they have not been adequately filtered from the Digital Terrain Model (DTM).
It is essential that the Wales LiDAR data is reviewed prior to use in flood modelling to determine its appropriateness for use. This should include reviewing the Wales LiDAR data against existing datasets such as the LiDAR tile catalogue archive.
Failure to carry out this review may lead to inaccurate or misleading flood model results.
