The CRoW Act provides for public access on foot to certain types of land, amends the law relating to public rights of way, increases measures for the management and protection for Sites of Special Scientific Interest (SSSI) and strengthens wildlife enforcement legislation, whilst providing for better management of Areas of Outstanding Natural Beauty (AONB). This dataset shows the area of land that has been dedicated under section 16 of the CROW Act by organisations/individuals other than NRW. When using this data to understand the extent of Open Access land it should be used in conjunction with Open Country 2014, Registered Common Land 2014, Other Statutory Access Land & Dedicated Forests.
