Proposed Boundary for a New National Park September 2025
Natural Resources Wales
A GIS polygon dataset showing the Proposed Boundary for a new National Park in Wales. This is the fifth dataset in a series that supports the new National Park in Wales project. This is the proposed boundary for a new National Park in Wales for statutory consultation purposes in late 2025. It is the summation of the evidence gathering, evaluation and public consultation project steps. OS MasterMap, SSSI, National Park, National Landscape, Wales England Border and Ancient Woodland boundaries alongside Ordnance Survey base mapping have been used to create this boundary.
NRW protected boundary standards have been applied except for the National Landscape boundary (formerly AONB). This was designated in 1985 and was drawn to different boundary setting conventions. OS MasterMap is mapped at a maximum scale of 1:10,000. Therefore, this dataset should not be used for analysis on a smaller scale than this to avoid inaccurate results and impact any interpretation. It is important to note that the Proposed Boundary for a New National Park in Wales is not the final boundary and could be subject to change. It has no legal status and is not a material consideration.
