The dataset comprises a number of river catchments based on Water Framework Directive water body boundaries which have been identified by NRW as areas within which forestry environmental improvement works will be prioritised to reduce the impact of forestry on the water environment.

The catchments were identified as a priority based upon their failure to achieve good or better status, the identification of forestry as a contributing reason for that failure and at least 30% of the area of the catchment being under closed canopy woodland cover.
