This layer shows areas identified by Natural Resources Wales (NRW) as not sensitive to woodland creation. This includes habitat that is not protected Priority Habitat under Section 7 of the Environment (Wales) Act 2016, such as dense bracken and upland acid grassland, as well as land such as agriculturally improved grassland. Woodland creation in these areas is seen as beneficial on a biodiversity and ecosystem service level, contributing to carbon sequestration and timber growth. Scoring is based on the type of land use (0 to 5). Areas with less or no detrimental impact on biodiversity such as arable or improved grassland, have a higher score.
