Regulating and Several Orders are granted by the Welsh Ministers under the terms of the Sea Fisheries (Shellfish) Act 1967, as amended. They are made for the establishment or improvement and for the maintenance and regulation of a shellfish fishery.
A Regulating Order enables the grantee to regulate a natural fishery by issuing restricted permits which allows permit holders to fish for shellfish at the exclusion or restriction of the public fishery.
A Several Order allows the grantee to establish private ownership and to cultivate shellfish for their own economic benefit at the exclusion of the public.
An Order can be made conferring both several and regulating rights at the same time to the same applicant.
