Title
Marine Planning Hard Constraints
Abstract

These layers represent hard constraints on the development of the following resources within the Welsh National Marine Plan area:

  • Aggregates
  • Aquaculture Bivalve Seabed
  • Aquaculture Bivalve Suspended
  • Aquaculture Seaweed Suspended
  • Tidal Range
  • Tidal Stream Seabed
  • Tidal Stream Surface-Mid
  • Wave Seabed
  • Wave Surface
  • Offshore Floating Wind

A hard constraint refers to a spatial consideration (such as existing activities or infrastructure) that effectively prevents new development for a specific sector. These hard constraints layers were used as part of work to refine Resource Areas, so that any areas covered by hard constraints were excluded from Refined Resource Areas and Strategic Resource Areas.
