This spatial dataset contains the boundaries of biosphere reserves in Wales. The Biosphere Reserve is an international designation made by UNESCO based on nominations made by more than 110 countries. These sites are chosen to conserve examples of areas which are characteristic of the world's natural regions. They must also be areas where people are important components of everyday life. The biosphere is rapidly changing under the influence of human activity, so meeting their needs whilst conserving the area's natural processes and wildlife is of the utmost importance to understand.
