- Title
- Allotments and Community Growing Spaces
- Abstract
This spatial dataset depicts the location of allotments or community growing spaces across Wales. Allotments or Community Growing Spaces are defined by Ordnance Survey as "Areas of land for growing fruit, vegetables and other plants, either in individual allotments or as a community activity. Produce is for the grower's own consumption and not primarily for commercial activity". These data have been derived from the greenspace sites geolocated polygon layer that forms part of Ordnance Survey's Open Greenspace Dataset. The allotments have been mapped by extracting the polygon centroids and creating a point dataset. The October 2022 version of OS Greenspace dataset was used to create this data set. These data have been derived from the greenspace sites geolocated polygon layer that forms part of Ordnance Survey's Open Greenspace dataset. The October 2022 version of OS Greenspace dataset was used to create this dataset. Steps taken to derive data: - Select the 'Allotments or Community Growing Spaces' function category from the OS Open Greenspace layer. - Clip layer to the Wales boundary. - Generate centroid points for all these polygons. - Export centroid points and create a permanent layer.
