Abstract

The Marine Plan Areas - England comprise 11 sub-areas of the 'English inshore and offshore marine planning regions'. The inshore region runs from the mean high water spring tides to 12 nautical miles (12 nm) UK limit of territorial sea, and the offshore region from 12nm UK limit of territorial sea to the UK fishery limit.The marine plan authority (the Secretary of State in England) is responsible for preparing marine plans for these plan areas with responsibility for plan development delegated to the Marine Management Organisation (MMO).
