- Abstract
- Special Protection Areas (SPAs) are strictly protected sites classified in accordance with Article 4 of the EC Birds Directive and the Environment (Wales) Act 2016. This dataset includes only the upland SPAs, as lowland SPAs were not seen as threatened by woodland creation. Planting within upland SPA’s may reduce the hunting range for raptors and provide cover for predators. Not all proposals in the area will require amending but advice from NRW must be sought. See GN002 for more details.
