Fleet Landings by Port
Welsh Government
A summary of the annual fishing activity of UK commercial fishing vessels collected and analysed by UK Fisheries Administrations.
The data set summarises UK commercial fishing vessels landing into the UK and abroad as well as foreign registered commercial fishing vessels landing into the UK; aggregated by month of landing and the port of landing. For each port the quantity (tonnes) of live weight fish landed, the actual landed weight (tonnes) and value (sterling) of live weight fish landed are given for each species group (demersal, pelagic, and shellfish). Demersal fish are species living on or near the sea bed, pelagic fish are found mainly in shoals in midwater. Shellfish covers all crustaceans and molluscs which live on the seabed.
Data collection methodology differs for those vessels less than 10 metres and greater than 10 metres overall length. There are three key sources of data: the logbook of activity while at sea, the landing declaration recording the accurate weight of fish when landed, and sales notes created when the fish are first sold after landing. The first two of these are required from all fishermen operating vessels over 10 metres overall length, the sales notes information is required for sales by all licensed vessels irrespective of length.
