Current Waste Management Licence Exemption data as required by Schedule 3 of the Waste Management Licensing (WML) Regulations 1994 (as amended) lists the activities which are normally exempt from WML in Wales. Circular 26/94 in Wales provides additional information. Typical exemptions include:

 -Cleaning or coating of waste packaging, containers and textiles
 -Burning waste as a fuel in an exempt appliance
 -Burning waste as a fuel in an engine
 -Secure storage of waste treatment of waste for recovery of materials
 -Burning of waste in an exempt incinerator at place of production
 -Depositing of mineral exploration
 -waste storing Waste Electrical Equipment for recovery elsewhere

Some activities may be excluded from WML where the activity is controlled under other regimes
